10 foods you shouldn't have before sex

Foods that interfere with your libido

1. Soya

Soya drinks and foods turn to oestrogen and are not good for libido or Testosterone. Soya is ok every once in a while but you shouldn’t make it a staple of your diet.

2. Processed foods

Highly processed foods such as white bread, white pasta and anything with white flour will generally not do much for your sex drive or performance in bed. These foods have been stripped of their goodness and contain basically nothing!

3. Beans/lentils/pulses

Whilst they are high in protein, beans are generally very gassy and can cause unpleasantness just when you don’t need it! It’s best to stay away from them before sex.

4. Microwaved popcorn

These are all the rage nowadays but a 2009 study showed that microwavable popcorn is not good for libido and significantly lowers your sperm count.

5. Chocolate

Chocolate is considered by some to be an aphrodisiac, however it has been shown to lower libido! It can also make you lethargic and moody, so probably best to stay away from it before sex.

6. Cheese

Cheese and dairy products can interfere with Testosterone levels. Cheese is full of synthetic hormones that interfere with many body functions. Not to mention you don’t want to have cheese breath before making love!

7. Alcohol

Alcohol may change your mood but it definitely lowers Testosterone and increases oestrogen. If you want to have a high libido, alcohol is not going to help you.

8. Diet Soda drinks

Aspartame in Diet drinks has been linked to lower serotonin levels which directly control happiness. If you want to have great sex, stay away from diet sodas.

9. Mint/Chewing gum

Did you know that the menthol in mint has been shown to lower Testosterone levels? There you go! Next time you want to have fresh breath, it may affect your performance in bed!

10. Bottled water

Well, who would have thought that one of the staples of anyone’s diet is actually bad for Testosterone. However this is a fact. Anything in plastic containers contains high levels of BPAs (Bisphenol A). A study on Fertility & Sterility found a direct correlation between urinary BPA and lower sperm count, concentration and vitality.
