Eggs

Plus, they’re one of the best sources of protein, which is essential after an intense training session when muscle breakdown occurs the most. Dark Leafy Greens

Dark chocolate is good for boosting energy levels as it provides vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants with even a small dose of caffeine without getting you too jittery. Boost your energy with dark chocolate by having a few pieces during the day to keep you on 'game' and help you through the last few days.

Tip: Keep small portions by your side or in your bag whenever you need an energy pick me up.

Quinoa is a gluten-free grain that contains more protein than any other grain or rice The grain is so rich in amino acids, that it's considered a great source of protein which is ideal for post-workout meals to help build muscle. It's also high in folate, magnesium, phosphorus, and manganese, making it a nutrient-packed source of carbs for long-lasting energy. Quinoa is a great replacement for wheat or refined carbs, as it can help support a healthy cardiovascular system, blood pressure levels, and bowel health.

Pumpkin Seeds

A handful of raw pepitas or dry roasted pumpkin seeds can give you a natural jolt to power through a workout as they are a good source of protein, healthy fats, and fibre—keeping you feeling full and energised for longer.

Youghurt

Yoghurt is a great source of high-quality protein to fill you up and provide basic energy for the brain, The best part about this food is it pairs well with pretty much everything as well as being high in protein. Add some granola, nuts, or fruit to amp up its flavour.

Bananas

One of the easiest and cheapest foods for an instant pick-me-up. Bananas contain glucose which provides a great energy boost to help you crush your workout. Plus noshing on this fruit gives you a load of benefits. Banana is great to have pre-workout or firt thing in the morning to give your energy levels a natural boost.

Nuts

Have you noticed that nuts tend to be in most energy bars or now snack packs at your local supermarket and think to yourself why? Well nuts such as almonds, walnuts and cashews provide your body with various vitamins and minerals. Not only this but essential dietary fats too.
This helps your body use energy over longer periods and prevents you from snacking. Peanut butter falls into this category too as its great for energy and helps suppress appetite. Always have a handful of nuts with you for when you feel tired to help boost your energy levels right back up.

Staying hydrated is a fundamental factor in ensuring your energy levels are sustained thoguhout the day. However, a lot of people tend to forget about staying hydrated and without knowing are suffering, so drink up!!

You should aim to have around 2-3 litres of water a day and always keep a bottle by your side. If you workout then it's even more important to drink up as your body loses water during exercise and can leave you feeling dehydrated which will have a massive negative impact to your energy and performance.

You can always add some lemon slices to give your water a little kick as well as reaping the rewards from the citrus whilst providing your body with the hydration it needs to function at optimum levels.

Tip: Upon waking aim to have around 300-500ml of water to wake you up and start your day as you mean to go on.
