Phil Beniston

Phil is a Nottingham based powerliter and martial artist. He has only been competing for two years.
His achievements in 2005 include:
- UK Powerlifting Champion
- UK Bench Press Champion
- British Bench Press Champion
- European Bench Press Champion & World Bench Press CHampion
- World Bench Record (190kg at 86kg bw)
In 2006 Phil's achieved the following:
- English Powerlifting Champion
- European Bench Press Champion
- World Record Squat (285kg at 91kg bw)
- World Record Bench 200.5kg at 91kg bw
- World Record Bench 197.5kg at 88kg bw
Achievements for 2007:
- World Powerlifitng Championships winner (M40+, 100kg cat)
- World Bench Press Record of 202.5kg (same cat)
- Won the Bench Press Championships (same cat)
- At the World Powerlifting Championships in Torreon, Mexico Phil broke a World Record Squat of 290kg, 200kg Bench and 252.5kg Deadlift (total of 742.5kg) at 93 kg body weight. He won World Bench with 202.5kg at 90.35kg body weight
- Las Vegas AAU, December 2007 in Las Vegas- won Bench Press by lifitng 170kg (raw)
Achievements for 2008:
- BPO English Bench Press Champion (190kg at 90.4 kg M40+)
- GPC World World Qualifiers in Birmingham M40+ 100kg class 1st, 705kg total, squat 265kg, bench 200kg, deadlifts 240 kg
- BPO British Powerlifitng Championships 90kg M40+ class (despite being injured) did token squat and deadlifts (240kg & 220kg) benched 200kg for British record (powerlifting) and same in single lift bench for British, European and World record
- Won GPC World Powerlifting Championships in Leamington Spa in 90kg M45 class (squat 312kg, bench 205kg, deadlift 250kg, total 770kg)
- Won WPF World Bench Press Championships in Vienna, Austria. M45+ 90kg class beating Head of Mexico Powerlifting Victor Gomez on bodyweight (Part of winning GB team, 2nd Austria, 3rd USA)
Achievements for 2009:
- Qualified for BPC British at BodyPowerExpo at NEC
- Set new British record on Bench in 90kg M2 with 190kg bench
- Won the WPC World Bench with BR 200kg
Achievements in 2010:
- Won the BPO British Powerlifting Championships, breaking British record on 2nd squat
- Broke British & European record on opening bench
- Set new British record total (260-175-230 665kg)
- Lifted in the GPC/GB Raw Qualifier, setting a new Raw British on the bench with 165kg at 90kg M2
- WPF World Championships set a new 82.5kg M2 World record 4th attempt on bench (185.5kg) and finished with a European record total of 687.5kg (260-177.5-250)
- Set a new British record of 187.5kg at Bench Press Championships
- Set a new British record of 255kg at the Deadlift Championships
Achievements in 2011:
- WPF Worlds, weighed in at 80.9kg M2 and lifted 250-172.5-250 for a 672.5kg total to win the title
In Martial Arts Phil has a 7th Dan Black Belt in Hwrang Do (Korean Kickboxing) and 6th dan Black Belt in Combat Jujitsu. He's also been indroduced into USA International Black Belt Hall of Fame as Master Instructor of the year in 2004.
Phil's main goals for future include winning World Powerlifting Championships 100kg M49+ calss with squat over 300kg, and World Record Bench over 210kg, which means setting a new World Record total of 812.5kg within 6 months.
He also managed to lose over half a stone with the help of Fat Stripper.
