Mike Melford
Semi-professional Rugby player and Medway District Champion
Mike is a semi-pro Rugby player and Medway district champion at 200m at 16 and 17 age groups.
His achievements so far are:
- Represented London, Kent and South East schools at U16 and U18 age groups, and Kent rugby at a senior level.
- Played for Loughborough University 1st XV Rugby 2006-2007, winning the British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) trophy at Twickenham.
- Winning BUSA Rugby 7’s Trophy 2006 with Loughborough, which was held at Northumbria University.
- Represented England Universities Rugby on three occasions while playing at Loughborough University (2006-2007 season). Played at Twickenham against combined services under 23’s.
- Represented Northampton Saints Academy vs Leicester Tigers academy during the 2006-2007 season.
- Won 3 Kent Cups with Canterbury RFC during the 3 seasons he played there for.
- Offered scholarship for Kings School Rochester where he holds 100m record of 10.51 seconds.
Mike's goal for this year is to be top try scorer in National Division 3 South (he came 3rd last year). He also intends to help Canterbury RFC gain promotion to National Division 2.
His biggest Rugby goal is to gain at least one England Counties rugby appearance this year, because for Mike there is nothing better than representing your country at any level in sport.
