The world's oldest man is currently Indonesian Mbah Gotho who is 145 and ha out-lived 10 siblings and 4 wives! New documentation from the Indonesian government shows Mbah was born on 31 December 1870. He has been preparing to die since 1992 when he was 122 years old. Now he says he definitely wants to go as his grandchildren are all independent and don't need him any more.
The previous oldest person was Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment who died at 122 years of age. Mbah's gravestone has been ready for 24 years, so he is ready to go any time! Mbah joins two others without verifiable records who were older than Mbah Gotho - 171-year-old James Olofintuyi from Nigeria and 163-year-old Dhaqabo Ebba from Ethiopia.
The secret to Mbah's longevity? He says one word: Patience!
