Scottish Hammer, javelin and discus thrower
Mark is an 18year old hammer thrower for Scotland. His sporting achievements are:
- Currently ranked 1st in Scotland and 5th in Britain
- 5x Scotish champion, hammer (2x U17 2003/2004, 2x U20 2005/2006, 1x senior 2006)
- Scottish schools champion, hammer 2004, javelin 2005
- Scottish North district hammer, javelin and discus champion
- 4x Air Training Corps National champion shot, discus, javelin (03, 04, 05, 06)
- HIghland games junior champion, shot putt, weight for height, weight for distance, scots hammer, toss the caber (2004)
- 4x Scottish Internationalist (2x schools in Chelmsford 4th 2004, Cardiff 4th 2005 & Scottish International Celtic Games silver 2004, Inter Territorial match derby gold 2005)
- European Select International Varazden, Croatia- 5th, Szombathley, Hungary- 1st July 2006
- Top Junior heavies Highland Games athlete in shot putt, weight for height, weight for distance, scots hammer and tossing the caber
- Forres Highland games junior heavies champion 04/06
- Scottish record holder in th U20's at 62.97 with 6k hammer
- 2st at Scottish Nationals in his age group, received bronze at the scottish seniors and gold at scottish closed senior championships.
Mark's got various goals for future. His short term plans include:
- increasing strength, muscle and body weight and training capabilities,
- throw greater than 63.74m
- take the Scottish all time record in the U20 age group
- to medal at the British Championships this year
In 2006 he's moved up an age category into the U23's and seniors currently 19 years old and throwing th 7.26k hammer instead of the 6k.
In 2007 he's been selected for the Great Britain Silver Hammer Throwing Squad. Mark's ultimate goal is to compete for his country in the Olympics, London 2012.
