Horror stories true?

Hi Dr. Bod,

I'm Pete, I'm 16 and want to pack on lean muscle and get ripped (yeah familiar story I know!). I hear horror stories all the time from people like protein and other supplements give you a small penis, weight training stunts your growth etc. Is there any truth in these? I'm 5ft7 and would ideally like another few inches but I've always had very slow growth and I'm wondering if starting weight training at 15 has anything to do with this?

The bottom-line is that you're at an age when you're still growing. Of course, people grow at different times of their youth and at different rates. May I suggest you consult a personal trainer to design a training program suitable for your age and metabolism.

As I've said before, now's the best time for you to use your own body's naturally high testosterone and growth hormone levels to put on muscle and lose fat. When everything in your body is working just right, why change it? So, for the time being, forget about testosterone boosters and anabolics. Merely ensure your nutrition plan is good with a decent intake of protein, complex carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables. Don't forget to drink water, which makes up 70% of your muscle cells. Perhaps consult a nutritional therapist.

I do not know of protein causing the reduction in the size of the penis. Check the ingredients of your supplements - it is true that steroids are harmful - check out:

I'm 17 and am wondering how would small controlled doses of steroids like anavar

Also, are there any products that will help me grow any more?

Contact info@lamuscle.com for specific LA Muscle supplement queries. Supplements should only be taken to 'supplement' a good nutrition program.

I've seen you say prolonged creatine use is dangerous to use for people my age but why is this? What could actually happen?

Caution is taken because of the following potential issues with high or prolonged doses:

  • nausea
  • gastro-intestinal symptoms
  • dizziness
  •  muscle cramps
  • may aggravate liver / kidney diseases

Of course, more long term studies are required to confirm the side effects associated with creatine supplementation.

Thanks for your questions,

'Dr Bod'
